SDG 6: Clean Water And Sanitation
6.3.2 Preventing water system pollution
In order to be a university with a green office, the university’s office wastewater management operations and wastewater quality must be within relevant legal standards. The guidelines are as follows: 1) Designate a person responsible for wastewater management and must have knowledge and understanding of care, 2) Wastewater treatment is appropriate and efficient, such as having a grate to catch food scraps, 3) There is a grease trap or wastewater treatment system appropriate to the composition of wastewater, complete wastewater treatment at every point where wastewater is released, 4) There are wastewater quality inspection results that are within the standard criteria as required by law. The Office of Academic Resources and Information Technology processes wastewater that comes from cleaning toilets and washing utensils.
The university encourages staff to scrape off food waste before washing dishes to reduce the number of washes and use environmentally friendly products. A wastewater treatment system has been installed at the Agricultural Learning Center based on the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy, with five points at Green Park and in front of the female dormitory. This system uses rotating motors to increase the oxygen levels in the water and circulate it in the pond. The amount of oxygen generated depends on the speed of the turbine rotation.
