3.3.6 Smoke-free policy
1. Have a ‘smoke-free’ policy
The university has announced a policy to protect the health of non-smokers and organize “Smoking area” in the year 2019 according to the notification of the Ministry of Public Health (No. 19) B.E. 2553: determination of smoking areas, notification of the Ministry of Public Health (No. 19) B.E. 2553: prescribing the name or type of public place that provides protection for the health of non-smokers by designating the university as a place to provide non-smoker’s health protection, and the Tobacco Products Control Act B.E. 2560, Section 6: Health Protection of Non-Smokers. Therefore, the university has issued a non-smoker prevention policy and designated all smoking areas within the university buildings or structures as non-smoking areas. Other places that are not inside buildings or structures can be designated as designated smoking areas in accordance with the notification of the Ministry of Public Health. Also, the university has informed the policy to the university’s personnel and students by publishing related information on the website of the Student Development Division, Office of the President. to continue to practice since 2019 until the present.
2. Smoking-free campus
According to the university’s smoke-free policy, a smoke-free area has been established. As a result, smoking in the building or in the area of all constructions in the university is prohibited. These places are designated as public places where the health of non-smokers is protected. In addition, a number of “No-smoking area” signs, designed in a particular form according to the rules or standards prescribed by law, is displayed in a clearly visible location around the area as shown in the figure.
3. Smoking in designated areas
According to the university’s policy, smoking areas are those outdoor areas which can be designated a specific smoking area. However, this area must be arranged properly according to the notification of the Ministry of Public Health. In addition, there must be a mark “Smoking area” displayed in a prominent location. This operation must also take into account proper ventilation and must not be in a manner that causes annoyance to others, as shown in the figure.
