2.2.1 Campus food waste tracking
Phetchaburi Rajabhat University provides a canteen and Phetchaburi International Culinary School where food and beverages are served to students, university staff and outsiders. Food waste and unwanted food management deals with scraps from cooking ingredients, leftovers from selling, non-qualified food, and scraps from culinary classes. At the canteen, the food waste is loaded to 3 specific 30-litre food bins which are placed at specific points on each floor of the 3-storey canteen building. For the International Culinary School, the 2 60-kilogram bins for waste separating are placed in a kitchen and dishwashing room. On average, the food waste from the canteen is about 45 kilograms in total per day while it is 60 kilograms from the International Culinary School. Pigs and fishes are daily fed with this food waste by the University. Moreover, the University manages the food waste by providing different colored waste bins: blue – general waste; red – hazardous waste; yellow – recycling waste; green – food scraps/ wet waste to encourage the students and staff to attentively sort the waste.
